AMB mx Transponder Timing System

Enduro - AMB/Infomega MX Transponder Timing & Results System

In general, most of the Enduro races are scored manually, which can cause quite some problems. Given the fact that riders pass start and finish timelines only once and rider numbers are often tough to read, timekeepers can easily make mistakes identifying and timing each of those riders on the track. Photocell based timing systems cannot resolve multiple simultaneous passings, can be seriously affected by adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, mud, dust) and should be used for backup timekeeping only. Also, manually entered times in various non-specialized “scoring” software like Excel etc, may be mistyped leading to obscured errors in final classifications. The AMBmx hardware and Infomega iRally software is an integrated solution based on transponder-based timekeeping and custom made Enduro scoring software, offering total system consistency and reliability to clubs and race organizations.

Issues

The timing within an Enduro races is not always accurate and can lead to discussions. Also, the processing and presentation of the results can lead to delays and problems. Furthermore, the timecards used in the races are hard to read at the end of a race day. These issues can form a serious threat for the sport in general.

Solution

By using the AMBmx transponder-based timing and scoring equipment, the system eliminates those difficulties and provides clubs and race organizations with professional-level results with minimal effort at an affordable price. Enduro events will have no ambiguity about timing and will be able to have total scoring instantly after the end of the last stage.

Since enduro races consist of a series of Special Tests that can be either “closed loop” (Start and Finish lines close to each other) or “open loop” (Start and Finish lines miles apart) the timing software should be capable to read the transponder information from 2 separated timelines in these remote sites, send them to the main scoring software in the event’s HQ where results would be calculated by accumulating road and extra penalties as well. Therefore, for those kinds of events, AMB in association with Infomega Race Results have developed an integrated solution, consisting of AMB’s MX transponder & decoder hardware and Infomega’s iRally software.

The AMBmx timing system is currently relied on by: FIM World Enduro Championship, FIM MX1&2 GP MX, AMA Supercross/Arenacross, MoNetherlands, KNMV, World Snowmobile Association, Euro Motorsport, Infomega Race Results and thousands of others proving the high quality and reliability level every day.
